In spring 2016, BYU and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust (SBT) began a partnership program which enables up to nine BYU students per year to complete an internship in Stratford-upon-Avon working at the SBT. These unpaid internships allow students to work as fully integrated members of the organization at the SBT based at the Shakespeare Centre on Henley Street. While the specific nature of the project and the areas of focus for each experience will change slightly each semester, internships will fit into one of three areas: learning and education course; marketing and communications; and development, special projects and events. Stratford-upon-Avon is centrally located in England, allowing for easy travel to many sites around the country (funds permitting). SBT interns return from this internship with developed professional competencies, a greater appreciation for British culture, academic credit, and an unusually impressive résumé line for future academic or employment applications.
